Our unique style of training offers variety and flexibility, continuing to challenge our fittest members, while also adapting to the needs of those with injuries or who are new to exercise.

We welcome anybody ready to step outside of their comfort zone and try new things.

We love that we’re a small, independently owned gym trying to do big things for our community. We get to deliver training programs designed by US specifically for OUR clients and THEIR needs.

It’s important to us that if people are making the time to get to the gym, what they are doing when they get there is worth their time and effort.

Designing new and exciting group sessions and individual programs is our passion and our zone of expertise – it’s why we do what we do, and we’re good at it!

So what is Functional Fitness?

At Movement we supercharge our approach to Functional Fitness by incorporating cardio as well as heavy weights, resulting in exercise programs that challenge every layer of an individual’s fitness, delivering a complete and dynamic workout every. single. time.

 

Functional Fitness is a type of training that focuses on multi-muscle and multi-joint exercises that mimic everyday activities and their movements, such as bending, lifting, loading, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting and hauling; with the goal of stimulating all of the major muscle groups in the body.

Consistent training will deliver a huge return on investment, helping to quickly build strength, while also improving cardiovascular health, posture, tone, range of motion, balance, agility, flexibility and core strength - results that will enhance anyone’s overall quality of life.

Functional Fitness training isn’t a new fitness fad – it has earned its reputation as one of the more practical and efficient styles of training due to its ability to adapt to a broad range of fitness levels and physical requirements. This flexibility also allows Functional Fitness programs to be slowed to a gentle pace or ramped up to high-intensity in order to suit the needs of an individual or class.

While ‘exercising’ isn’t everybody’s idea of a fun time, incorporating a little bit of Functional Training into your week will allow you to do the activities you really want to be doing (ball sports, tramping, running, surfing etc.) more easily, and for much longer.

Justin offers 20+ years’ experience working in gyms across the world. He is looking forward to bringing his unique style of training to Havelock North after having recently moved back to Hawke’s Bay from Melbourne where he owned a successful Group and Personal Training gym.
